Keith S. Swift, MACE
Founder/Director, Instituto InterGlobal
I was born at a very young age, close to my mom, in the house of the field chairman of the
Christian and Missionary Alliance in the city of Lima, in the country of Peru,
in the year 1952. My parents were C&MA missionaries at the time.
As a child I was raised in Peru. We moved back to California in
1961. My young life in California basically revolved around church
involvements and school. The Boys Brigade
influenced me greatly through ages 11-15, instilling a great respect for youth
workers and a love for the outdoor life of camping and back-packing. My parents
also regularly enrolled us in summer Bible camps and later took us yearly to
Hume Lake family Bible camps.
I trace my salvation experience back to the age of seven. As far back
as age twelve I felt God wanted me to serve Him on the mission field. To please
the Lord has been my life goal ever since I can remember. As a young man, most
everything I became involved in was with the aim of further preparing myself for
eventual service overseas as a missionary. I have continued to strive to involve
myself in many areas of service to the end that I might help in the maturing of
believers now, and that I might learn more of how to better serve Christ in the
future. All my college and seminary training was selected with foreign
missionary service in mind. Before Denise and I married, we discussed our
careers and made plans to become missionaries. Denise and I both graduated from
Millikan High (Long Beach, CA), graduated from Simpson
University and earned
our Masters degrees
in Christian Education together at Talbot
Seminary.
I owe many thanks to many dedicated people who served the Lord and thus
influenced my young years. Thank you: Mom and Dad, Fred Kowalchuk, Bert
and Mildred Lofsted, Richard Wright, Pastor Klingen, Bill and Faith Rouse,
Garland Higgins, Dr. Walmark at Simpson College, and Rex Johnson and Dr. Bill
Bynum at Talbot Seminary.
Denise and I initially made plans to serve with the Christian &
Missionary Alliance (C&MA), but the Lord eventually led in other directions.
We have served, since 1985, with Latin America Mission and then VELA
Ministries International, living in Mexico for seven years. I resigned from VELA
(effective June/1999) to get out of administration and back into leadership training
- specifically to pursue internet training for Latin world Christian leaders.
I was recruited and brought to International (June/1999) by Don Weaver,
International’s president, who shared my vision for internet training for the
Latin world - bringing me onboard to accomplish that vision. Our first
Spanish language e-class was taught from March-May, 2000. But the school was having financial
problems, which soon caused the Spanish language program to be cut. My
last official date with International was April 15th, 2001. (ISOT folded
soon after, and was sold to the Jack Hayford ministry.)
March, 2001, the legal process was begun to officially establish Instituto InterGlobal as a 501(c)(3) Christian organization.
October 23, 2001, InterGlobal was officially granted non-profit status by the
federal government.
Today, I am scrambling to keep pace with the growth and development of Instituto InterGlobal!
...a cooperative internet school training
Latin World Christian Leaders
for ministry.
