InterGlobal's Distance Learning began at InternationalInstituto InterGlobal was originally birthed by the International School of Theology in Fontana, California (although ISOT is now defunct). International used non-traditional learning strategies since its inception to provide theological and ministry training for Campus Crusade staff. Electronic distance learning at International had its beginnings in an early experiment in 1995 when International's Dr. Ray Albrektson took a live class and taught the second half of the class via e-mail. Vision and a strategy for School Without Walls was formulated by Dr. Don Weaver, International’s President, in 1996. Eighteen months of research followed to identify models for the electronic delivery of what are now called e-Classes. Richard Morris, International’s first Director of Technology took leadership in 1997 to implement the introduction of graduate and enrichment classes. The first graduate class was taught by Dr. Alan Scholes, Associate Professor of Theology, in October 1997. The first enrichment class was taught by Richard Morris in January 1998. The first Spanish language web based class was taught by Keith Swift and Peter Larson in March 2000, "Spiritual Leadership - A Forum Class". Then, in 2001, the Leadership Team at International wrote, “Due to fiscal restraints of our institution, our distance learning program at the International School of Theology has needed to cut back from developing a Spanish language program. Although we are not able to continue moving in this direction, we affirm the vision to develop such a program and wish Keith Swift God’s very best as he pursues this ministry.” - The Leadership Team at International, March 18, 2001
